Mammut Team Trip 09

Every year Pascal Brönnimann and his team from Mammut come up with new challenges for the annual Team Trip. This year, a trip to Kyrgyzstan was on the program. We first flew to Moscow, and from there we took the 3700-km long train ride to Bishkek, capitol of Kyrgyzstan. From there, we jumped on a plane to Batken, and after a car ride and some hiking, we finally reached our base camp. The trip was an adventure in itself, but I doubt that I will ever want to take that train ride again …

Our goal was the 4230-m high Asan. The first try – ascending the slickest and steepest part of the rock face – was unsuccessful. But on the second try, after almost a week of hard work and more than 800 climbed meters, we (Stephan Siegrist, Nina Caprez, Giovanni Quirici and me) finally reached the peak. I had to leave the next day, but the rest of the team managed to freeclimb the route during the following days.

After unpacking all the gear and two restful days at home, it’s time to get ready for the upcoming World Cups and Masters. The first World Cup is in a couple of days in Imst.
